Kayak Hull to Deck Seam: A feature we are proud of is the
deck/hull seam on our kayaks. Because the hull extends well up
under the deck a structural beam is created around the entire
perimeter of the kayak. This also creates a large bonding
surface to which we apply an adhesive called Plexus®, the same
adhesive used by builders like Boston Whaler and Scarab to join
their decks and hulls.

Kayak Hatches: The hatch systems have flush
mounting covers, bow and stern with smooth molded surfaces top and
bottom. Our openings may be the largest in the business. You
won't have any trouble getting all your gear into these kayaks.

Kayak Hatch Gaskets: We use a unique pedestal gasket to ensure a
tight seal into our deep deck groove. As the pedestal is
compressed it forces the 1/2 round to expand down and out. The seal
is EPDM rubber which has an adhesive like quality against the smooth
deck.

Kayak Lamination: The laminate starts with the gel-coat
finish, we use only the finest marine gel-coats available. All
kayaks are shiny and beautiful when they're new, but there is no way
to tell the quality of the gel-coat. Time will tell as poor
quality gel-coats will fade, chalk, scratch easily and loose their
luster long before you would expect. There are basically two
types of resin used for making kayaks. One is polyester the
other vinylester. Vinylester is much, much stronger than
polyester, it resists cracking, aging and moisture absorption far
better than polyester. We use the finest marine vinyl esters, they
cost twice as much as polyesters, but the difference is dramatic.
Last, but not least, are the reinforcements. We select each
reinforcement used in our kayaks, whether Kevlar®, fiberglass or
carbon from only the best suppliers. All of our kayaks have had
their reinforcement packages engineered for the best combination of
strength and light weight.
